White Wine from South Africa - Coastal Region
Of Donovan Rall’s pair of brilliantly elegant, fine (and tiny-production) chenin blancs, each named for one of his two daughters, Noa is the more restrained and reserved from the get-go. First bottled in 2021 (the year Noa Rall herself was born), it was originally a single-vineyard expression but is now a blend of the best old-vine granite vineyards Donovan works with across the Paardeberg. Taut and energetic, this has a touch of gunflint on the nose and is saline and precise on the palate, with a sappy freshness. As with Ava 2024, give this time and air; a good decant a couple of hours prior to serving would be ideal.
