Rhône 2015 Case
Although the Rhône’s Beaumes de Venise is better known for its sweet muscat, the grenache-dominated reds are very good too. This is similar to Gigondas but maybe a little gentler. Full and generous with thick spicy plum flavours, will certainly pack the necessary punch on a cold autumn or winter day.
An exclusive blend from this great Rhône name, partly from Plan de Dieu and part Cairanne, with some very ripe grenache and syrah. This is full-flavoured and rich, and perfect for drinking now.
Domaine Sainte-Anne is one of the remarkable estates of the southern Rhône. The Stenmaiers, originally from Burgundy, were pioneers, introducing viognier, syrah and mourvèdre to the area. Both of the latter grapes are used here though the majority is grenache. Full-flavoured and rich with lovely soft fruit, made from 40-year-old vines.
From a new estate in Cairanne with a good inventory of vineyard, this is a lovely grenache-dominant blend, fruity, round and generously flavoured.
Very deeply coloured Rhône syrah of graphite and blackberry with some spice. This comes from the northern part of Crozes where the wines are more structured.
