Rhône 2015 Case

Case of 12
0 star rating 0 Reviews
One of the many benefits of being a member of The Wine Society is that, as a member-owned co-operative with no external shareholders to please, we can buy fine wines on release and mature them in the ideal conditions of our cellars until our buyers are satisfied that they are at their best. Now, with a new name – Museum Release – we’ve put together a global exhibition of a vintage that shone in wine regions around the world: 2015. Six years on, many are open for business and a joy to drink. Rhône buyer Marcel Orford-Williams hailed 2015 as a vintage of ‘opulence and splendour’, and this case of six Rhône reds backs up that opinion.

Wines included

2018 - 2022

Beaumes de Venise, Domaine de Boussières 2015

Although the Rhône’s Beaumes de Venise is better known for its sweet muscat, the grenache-dominated reds are very good too. This is similar to Gigondas but maybe a little gentler. Full and generous with thick spicy plum flavours, will certainly pack the necessary punch on a cold autumn or winter day.

2018 - 2025

Côtes-du-Rhône Reserve Wine Society, Paul Jaboulet Aîné 2015

An exclusive blend from this great Rhône name, partly from Plan de Dieu and part Cairanne, with some very ripe grenache and syrah. This is full-flavoured and rich, and perfect for drinking now.

2018 - 2024

Côtes-du-Rhône Villages, Notre Dame des Cellettes, Domaine Sainte-Anne 2015

Domaine Sainte-Anne is one of the remarkable estates of the southern Rhône. The Stenmaiers, originally from Burgundy, were pioneers, introducing viognier, syrah and mourvèdre to the area. Both of the latter grapes are used here though the majority is grenache. Full-flavoured and rich with lovely soft fruit, made from 40-year-old vines.

2018 - 2028

Cairanne, Domaine Roche 2015

From a new estate in Cairanne with a good inventory of vineyard, this is a lovely grenache-dominant blend, fruity, round and generously flavoured.

France
2018 - 2022

Crozes-Hermitage, Domaine Rousset 2015

Very deeply coloured Rhône syrah of graphite and blackberry with some spice. This comes from the northern part of Crozes where the wines are more structured.

2017 - 2022

Vacqueyras Les Cyprès, Paul Jaboulet Aîné 2015

Vacqueyras should have a certain charm as well as being full-bodied and flavoursome. Jaboulet manage to get it just right blending many different elements with skill. A sumptuous and complex 2015 Rhône.
