Sangenís I Vaque Garbinada Priorat 2024

Red Wine from Spain - Priorat & Catalunya
0 star rating 0 Reviews
A pristine, transparent expression of Priorat’s slate soils, aged briefly in underground ceramic cubes with no oak influence. The wine captures the region’s trademark structure while offering an unusually fresh, honest aromatic intensity. Made from 60% grenache and 40% carignan, Garbinara takes its name from the sea breeze that refreshes the vineyards throughout the summer. Fine-grained tannins and pretty floral flavours make this wine suited to being served slightly cooler than room temperature that is ideal with the classic pa amb tomàquet made with fresh, ripe tomatoes grated and spooned on to toasted and garlic-rubbed bread. .

Very deep purplish crimson. Spicy-rich on the nose. There’s a definite similarity to Châteauneuf! Masses of alcohol. But it doesn’t fall over itself and it’s not too sweet. There is grip on the (not hot) end. A worthy Priorat, and worth exploring if you are curious about the area. JancisRobinson.com
