South of France Reds Case
Wines included
The Society's French Grenache, Côtes Catalanes 2024
Grenache is the main red variety in the Roussillon, the warmest province of France. Very versatile, grenache here makes a deliciously full and fruity red which can be served cool.
Cuvée Laborie Rouge, Pays d'Oc 2025
A classic Languedoc blend of carignan and grenache, with a splash of merlot adding suppleness. Brilliant value southern French red delivering fresh, uncomplicated fruit and soft tannins.
Saint-Chinian, Réserve de Raynier 2025
‘Pencil shavings, pomegrante, pepper, pot-pourri… all the Ps, actually!’ This southern French grenache-syrah blend is certainly popular, and perennially prevailing, reaching our Wine Championship podium for the second year in a row. ‘Vibrant’ and ‘savoury with lovely black fruit’, it’s also offered at a pleasing price!
Domaine de Gournier, Cévennes Rouge 2025
A deliciously dark, full-flavoured and fruity country red from the area behind Uzès in the Cévennes. Lovely concentration and flavour for the price, and this is round, sappy, a little jammy and easy to drink. Merlot and syrah share centre stage.
Gamay, Jacques Dépagneux, Comté Tolosan 2025
A juicy, fruit-driven southern French gamay with all the exuberance of youth. Particularly good in 2025, and delicious drunk lightly chilled.
Marcel Malbec, du Cèdre, Vin de France 2025
Made from Cahors fruit and from one of the top estates, this is a soft, ripe-flavoured red with notes of crushed blueberries and violets. A lovely easy-drinking red to accompany pasta with meatballs or pizza.
