Red Wine from Germany - Ahr
From the village of Dernau, this single-vineyard wine from the Hardtberg comes from steep, south-facing slopes and complex soils of primarily slate and loess. Wild flowers and rosemary combine with wild strawberries and liquorice spice. Tannins are chalky and well integrated and there is a generosity and length to the finish. Alexander Stodden is fifth-generation winemaker producing some of the most expressive pinot noirs coming out of Germany from a 10-hectare estate in the Ahr Valley.
