Wines included
Lagrein Alto Adige, Hofstätter 2019
An grape that is local to Alto Adige, this medium-bodied Italian red has an inky violets and black-fruit nose, bright acidity and well integrated tannins supporting the blackberry and savoury bresaola flavours that develop on the finish.
Marzemino Trentino Castel Firmian 2019
The marzemino grape is native to southern Trentino in the far north of Italy, thriving on the slopes of the Dolomite mountains. There are pomegranate, tea, and tart red fruit flavours on this well balanced medium-bodied and refreshing red. A black pepper note on the finish makes this even more intriguing.
Niepoort Lagar de Baixo, Bairrada 2018
Refined Bairrada from Niepoort's own property there, Quinta de Baixo, a delicious red, light in colour, beautifully fresh, with fine tannin structure, energy and delicate haunting perfume.
Quinta da Romeira 'Prova Régia' Arinto, Bucelas 2019
From an old property restored by winemaking giant Sogrape Vinhos and made from the traditional white grape arinto, whose life-affirming acidity carries the delicate green-apple and white floral perfume and flavour long on the palate.
The Society's Falanghina 2020
Falanghina is one of Italy's many native grape varieties that we feel shouldn't be left under the radar! With tangy clementine and peach flavours, this is a lovely crisp, dry and expressive wine to add to your selection.
TreRè Arlùs Albana Secca, Romagna 2020
Albana is almost uniquely planted in the Italian region of Emilia-Romagna, gaining DOCG status in 1987. Here picked a little later, the grapes have developed a full, creamy style, with intense peach and apricot flavours that last well on the dry, refreshing finish.
Vadio Branco, Bairrada 2019
A beautifully precise expression of Bairrada's indigenous grapes, with flashes of lemon citrus lifting more delicate white flower perfume. Made by a young producer who was until recently employed by Portuguese star and member favourite Herdade de Esporão.
Vilosell, Costers del Segre 2018
Top Spanish winemaker Tomàs Cusiné crafts this deeply coloured, powerful tempranillo-syrah blend from his vineyards in Catalunya. Brimming with blueberry fruit and chunky in texture, this is delicious.
Pazo de Villarei Albariño, Rías Baixas 2020
A lovely fruity introduction to the fresh, aromatic quality of Spain's now famous north-west grape, albariño, a wine that is famously wonderful with seafood.
