The Society's Exhibition Cap Classique 2024
Simonsig are the creators of South Africa's answer to Champagne, Cap Classique, where the Champagne grapes of chardonnay, pinot noir, and pinot meunier create this wonderfully refreshing, complex, and generous traditional method sparkling wine. They were therefore the obvious choice to produce an Exhibition label for The Society thanks to their history of the style, but also because their Cape sparkler is one of the best-value traditional method bubblies in the world. Now with two years under cork with partial oak fermentation of the chardonnay during primary fermentation, this is a rich, toasty, apple-forward sparkling wine with a fine, well-integrated mousse and crisp, bready finish. Ideal served as an aperitif this has the added weight and richness thanks to South Africa's warm climate to pair beautifully will all manner of foods.

Simonsig Wine Estate
Simonsig is one of the most respected producers in the Cape wine industry, established in the 1950s just outside Stellenbosch. It is owned and run by the Malan family and winemaking is overseen by Johan and his son Michael.
Their wide range is perhaps best known for two wines: their highly regarded red Cape Blend, which pays tribute to Frans Malan, visionary patriarch and founder of Simonsig; and Kaapse Vonkel, the first South African sparkling wine made according to the traditional method, known in South Africa as Méthode Cap Classique, back in 1971 and therefore celebrating its - and the appellation's - 50th anniversary in 2021.
