Sparkling Wine from South Africa - Coastal Region
While chenin is South Africa's most widely planted grape, it is still relatively uncommon to find it in sparkling form, and yet its naturally high, vibrant acidity is perfect for traditional method fizz – as 'Vinkel' from Thistle & Weed so beautifully demonstrates. This has the pure racy chenin signature we love, with aromas and flavours of yellow apple and salted almond, and a driving, tangy freshness. Made in the Brut style, with just under 7g of residual sugar, Vinkel finishes refreshingly and satisfyingly dry. Not a toasty sparkling style, but one of purity and intention.
