As buyer Matthew Horsley put it, ‘the standard of Beaujolais this year was amazing’, and this exciting taste of the 2020 vintage showed why it’s a great opportunity to get acquainted or reacquainted with the wines. After two fuller-bodied vintages, the freshness of this well-balanced, cherry-fruited favourite certainly perked up the tastebuds.

Fresh and aromatic, this is pure Bordeaux sauvignon made without the use of oak in a crisp and fruity modern style that allows its fresh aromatic fruit to shine.

The fruit of over 25 years’ collaboration with the Sichel family, and especially ripe and appealing in 2019, this fruity merlot-based claret offers pure pleasure in a glass for Bordeaux lovers at a keen price.

Deliciously fruity, sleek and full-bodied southern French red from the best-known appellation in the Languedoc. Made for us by Pierre Bories from on-form Ollieux-Romanis, this is dark and full of ripe, blackberry fruit with plum and spice. A member favourite with good reason.

Noticeably drier in this vintage, this is fragrant, light and refreshing with a hint of citrus on the palate, and light enough to be enjoyed on its own.

Ripe, fruity grenache-syrah Rhône blend from an outstanding producer in Vinsobres. The colour has depth and the nose is beautifully marked by raspberry and redcurrant fruit. There is nothing heavy here, just loads of vibrant fruit.

This much loved montepulciano's ripe cherry and strawberry perfume leaps out of the glass, while the palate has generosity and freshness. A great modern version of a traditional southern Italian red that's food-friendly and very tasty.

This elegant Italian pinot grigio really hits the spot. Made exclusively for us, we ensure that it has precision, balance and charm. With lemon and honeysuckle perfume, and granny smith apple notes on the palate this is a refreshing pinot grigio to enjoy by itself or a bowl of carbonara. An International Wine Challenge bronze medal winner in 2021.

A smooth, fleshy and oaky Rioja, made in the traditional style from tempranillo aged in American oak. One of our most popular reds, and for good reason.

Ripe and round yet with a broad, appley palate and fresh finish. For good reason this white Burgundy is consistently our bestselling wine. Its ongoing quality reflects the deep involvement in its selection by successive buyers and the skill of our ‘man on the ground’, Jean-Marc Darbon, who excels in sourcing the right blending options for us to work with.

This is supplied to us by Languedoc producer Domaine du Bosc, whose diversity of grape varieties allows them to play to the strengths of the vintage in this part of France. Aromatic, and delightful, with a light touch.

Ripe and refreshing Muscadet from Chéreau-Carré in the western Loire valley, this is the ideal accompaniment to shellfish, delicious on its own, but good too with chicken, charcuterie and much more.
