Vasse Felix 'Tom Cullity' Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon-Malbec 2020
Red Wine from Australia - Western Australia
The 2020 Tom Cullity Cabernet Sauvignon-Malbec exemplifies the estate's dedication to crafting wines of depth and elegance. This vintage, composed of 81% cabernet, 16% malbec and 3% petit verdot, was matured for 18 months in French oak barriques (54% new). It presents a bright garnet hue and the nose unfolds with a complex bouquet: wild raspberry, fresh rose petals, hints of orange peel, and earthy, crushed rock and shiitake mushroom undertones. It offers a plush yet fresh mouthfeel, with fine tannins providing texture. Flavours of cassis, plum, raspberry and orange intertwine with savoury notes, leading to a subtle cigar note on the finish. This wine reflects the warm, low-yielding 2020 vintage, delivering intensity and depth while maintaining elegance. It's poised to evolve gracefully over the next two decades, offering both immediate enjoyment and long-term cellaring potential.

Vasse Felix
The earliest pioneer of Margaret River winemaking, Vasse Felix was established in 1967, founded by a doctor, Tom Cullity, who searched relentlessly in the area for just the right place to plant his vines. He found it a Wilyabrup and planted eight acres that remain the heart of the Vasse Felix estate to this day. In 1987 it was purchased by the Holmes à Court family, and they have expanded the vineyard area while maintaining the commitment to quality that was always in place. After all, Tom Cullity's vision was a good one –“to make the best possible wine.”
