Champagne Champions
Wines included
Champagne Castelnau Brut NV
Complex, beautifully integrated and balanced Champagne from master-blender Élisabeth Sarcelet (now succeeded by her colleague Carine Bailleul), who selected from more than 155 different crus for this flagship cuvée. A high percentage of chardonnay and extensive lees ageing produce a richer style, offset by tart apple, brioche and a touch of flint on the nose, and pinprick bubbles that lift the palate. This is the wine formerly called 'Brut Réserve', and was one of our Wine Champions of 2023. We offer a case saving on all our non-vintage Champagnes. Buy a case of six bottles and get 10% off. This saving is included in the case price below.
Champagne Charles Heidsieck Brut Réserve NV
This supplier-supported saving is valid until Tuesday 15th October 2024 or while stocks last. This saving is included in the case price below. 'This has,` one 2024 Wine Champions taster said, ‘just got everything you want and expect at this level.` Charles Heidsieck`s consistently excellent Champagne is indeed the complete package, with beautiful biscuity complexity, depth of flavour and elegant fruit. A faultless choice for fine fizz. We offer a case saving on all our non-vintage Champagnes – and thanks to the generosity of our suppliers, we’re delighted to offer a saving in addition to our usual case price saving of 10% on non-vintage Champagne.
Champagne Henriot Brut Souverain NV
This chardonnay-dominant blend has had three years on its lees to give a great depth of brioche and honeysuckle flavours, which last well on the long finish. We offer a case saving on all our non-vintage Champagnes. Buy a case of six bottles and get 10% off. This saving is included in the case price below.
The Society's Champagne Brut NV
We were so pleased to see this enduring favourite crowned a Champion yet again this year: it is the product of more than a century of working with the small house of Alfred Gratien, and seeing it triumph so consistently is a testament to the quality that has resulted. Fermented in small oak casks and given generous bottle ageing, it shows great depth of flavour and class.
Champagne Lanson Gold Label Brut 2009
‘Bottle age is good’ and Lanson’s 2009 is officially ‘lovely’ as it turns 14. Rich and complex but eminently friendly, and a triumph of age over callow youth. A Wine Champion in 2023.
Champagne Alfred Gratien Brut 2015
Alfred Gratien's 2015 vintage Champagne is drinking beautifully now, with rich brioche, buttered toast and flint aromas supported by an elegant fruit profile of ripe lemon, grapefruit and green apple. The very fine bubbles that lift the initial perfume are not aggressive, and the finish is soft and long. So good, it was voted a Wine Champion for 2023.
