El Cerrico Blanco Bodega Cerrón, Jumilla 2024

Code: SP25411
White
Despite being a white wine from a region best known for reds, El Cerrico is arguably the most emblematic wine in the portfolio. It comes from a tiny half-hectare plot of ungrafted airén planted in the 1920s. Originally part of a larger family vineyard, most of the site was later uprooted, leaving just this surviving parcel of fewer than 700 vines. The vineyard sits at 1,000 metres above sea level on calcareous soils rich in marine fossils. This textured, saline and mineral white undergoes 20 days of spontaneous fermentation and skin contact in traditional tinajas, followed by four months in oak and a further 12 months in stainless steel. The result is a remarkable expression of the often-overlooked airén grape, combining reductive and oxidative nuances in a way that is reminiscent of a very fine white Burgundy. There is impressive depth, elegance and concentration, with notes of dried fruit, honey, chamomile and a mineral, energetic and salty character that speaks clearly of it’s very special site. Drink this year to 2031. 12%

La Servil Bodega Cerrón, Jumllla 2024

Code: SP25441
Red
La Servil serves as an introduction to the estate's range, yet it comes from some remarkably old vineyard sites. The fruit is sourced from two historic high-altitude plots, El Cenajo and La Muela, both situated at around 950 metres above sea level. The ungrafted monastrell bush vines, planted on chalky limestone soils, are between 60 and 70 years old. Together, these factors contribute to the wine's vibrant freshness, mineral character and sense of purity. The winemaking is deliberately hands-off: a gentle maceration, spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts, and a year of ageing in large foudres and older French oak barrels. Bottled unfiltered and unfined, the result is a pure expression of monastrell that combines the depth of old vines with amazing finesse and energy. Bright red fruits, supple tannins and hints of spice are beautifully interwoven with surprising acidity. Drink this year to 2030. 14%

Los Yesares Bodega Cerron. Jumilla 2024

Code: SP25431
Red
Los Yesares is another compelling and unforgettable monastrell from the Cerrón range and a great example of the estate's focus on vineyard expression. The fruit comes from the Pedreras and Barranco del Pedernal sites at around 940 metres altitude, where very old ungrafted monastrell vines grow in flinty limestone soils. Unusually, the vineyard is believed to be the only one in Fuente-Álamo still planted in the traditional tresbolillo pattern, a historic method of triangular vine spacing. Low yields, biodynamic farming, minimal intervention and fermentation with native yeasts all contribute to the pure, ethereal character of the wine. It is aged in older oak, resulting in an expression that is defined more by detail and finesse than power. Expect bright red fruit, wild herbs and lots of earthy, ferrous undertones, supported by fine chalky tannins and a long, focused finish. It is a wine that demonstrates just how elegant and precise old-vine monastrell can be. Drink this year to 2032. 14%

La Calera del Escaramujo Bodega Cerrón, Jumilla 2024

Code: SP25421
Red
La Calera del Escaramujo is as much a story of vineyard rescue as it is of winemaking. Sourced from the family's oldest and most dramatic site, this tiny 1.6-hectare vineyard was planted in 1936 and remained abandoned for more than two decades before being acquired by the Cerrón family in 2012. After years of careful restoration, the vines were harvested once again in 2017, with the first vintage released in 2019. Situated at around 960 metres above sea level on rocky limestone soils, the ungrafted old vines produce tiny yields of just 800kg of fruit each year. Farmed organically and biodynamically, it is fermented with minimal intervention and aged for 14 months in 600-litre French oak barrels. Deep, complex and extremely poised, La Calera combines concentrated forest fruits with enticing thyme and rosemary, alongside perfumed florals and a mouthwateringly electric acidity. It manages to be powerful and incredibly refined, defined by silky smooth tannins and a saline, everlasting finish. Drink this year to 2033. 14%
