First release: Jaboulet Hermitage 2023

The Wine Society and Paul Jaboulet Aîné have enjoyed a long and successful relationship over the years and they have offered us a limited parcel of Hermitage Rouge from the charming and fruit-forward 2023 vintage, a special bottling for The Wine Society. Caroline Frey's penultimate vintage at this highly revered estate, the 2023 is fruit forward, juicy and succulent and takes on many layers of complexity that you would expect from one of the most iconic vineyards in the world. Coming from the lieu dits of Grandes Dionnières, Marcou and Petite Vigne expect liqourice, brambles, graphite and black pepper combined with wild flowers and herbs. There is a tannin grip that provides a great structural backbone and there is an attractive, juicy acidity. Drink from 2027 to 2047. 13.5%

Coming largely from the Muret Bas lieu dit on the famed Hermitage hill, this white is powerful, mineral and wonderfully textured. A rousanne, marsanne blend that displays plenty of wild herbs, ginger and ripe stone fruits, combined with dried lemon peel and an attractive phenolic grip on the finish. A wine that balances richness and minerality perfectly. Drink this year to 2035. 15%
