First release: Kooyong 2024 & 2025

A finely tuned and expressive introduction to Mornington Peninsula pinot noir, blending fruit from Kooyong’s Tuerong and Balnarring vineyards. Delicate in colour and initially restrained on the nose, it opens with air to reveal redcurrant, fresh raspberry and crushed cherry, with subtle notes of mint, tomato leaf, dried straw and spice adding complexity. The palate is light, juicy and energetic, with bright acidity, silky texture and a delicate tannic grip giving freshness and finesse. A small proportion of whole bunches and just 8% new French oak ensure the fruit remains firmly centre stage. Charming, refined and beautifully poised, this is a little less bombastic than the 2024 and a touch more structural. Drink this year to 2031. 13%

Faultline is the most linear and refined of Kooyong’s single-block chardonnays, sourced from just half a hectare of 28-year-old vines on deep clay soils. The nose is subtle but beautifully defined, with lemon zest, green apple and tart peach alongside wet stone, struck match and a gently nutty character. The linear, taut character doesn't compromise its sleek profile. Restrained and elegant now, this should broaden beautifully with bottle age. Drink this year to 2044. 13%

A finely etched expression of Mornington Peninsula chardonnay and a step up in intensity and complexity from Clonale. Sourced from Kooyong’s Faultline and Farrago blocks, the nose is delicate yet detailed, with citrus zest, incense and white pepper alongside a subtle savoury note. The palate is taut and textured, with lemon peel and apple skin complemented by chalky minerality and a saline thread. Fresh acidity provides impressive drive and focus through the long finish. Eleven months on lees and 20% new French oak bring texture without obscuring its purity. Complex, restrained and beautifully poised, this represents a real sweet spot for quality and value amongst the chardonnays. Drink this year to 2040. 13%

Historically the lightest of Kooyong’s single-block pinot noirs, Meres takes on greater intensity and structure in 2024 while retaining its fragrant, red-fruited character. Raspberry compote, cranberry and sweet cherry lead the nose, with floral notes and hints of beetroot and tomato leaf adding complexity. The palate is succulent and juicy, with vibrant redcurrant and raspberry flavours carried by fine tannins. A 15% whole-bunch component brings a subtle savoury, herbal character and further lift. Delicate in weight but increasingly serious in structure, this is an elegant, highly aromatic pinot with impressive intensity and a long, finely detailed finish. Drink this year to 2039. 12.5%

Perhaps the best release of Clonale to date, this is a refined yet wonderfully approachable expression of Kooyong’s elegant house style. The nose is fresh and gently saline, with green apple, lime zest and ripe lemon alongside cashew and a subtle flicker of vanilla. There’s lovely mid-palate weight and texture, with juicy stone fruit, spiced apple and preserved lemon, balanced by vibrant citrus acidity and a savoury, sea-salt freshness. Fermentation and ageing on lees in French oak, just 14% new, brings gentle toast and a note of almond to the long finish. Serious, precise chardonnay, but with effortless charm and drinkability. Drink this year to 2035. 13%

The grandest of Kooyong’s chardonnays this year, Farrago combines greater breadth and power with the precision and freshness characteristic of Mornington Peninsula. The nose is flinty and savoury, with smoky citrus peel, struck match and toasted almond alongside apple skin, cinnamon and white pepper. Fuller and more textured than Faultline, the palate has a creamy, gently mealy quality, with generous fruit and spice balanced by bright, linear acidity and a mineral backbone. Fermentation and 11 months on the yeast lees in French oak puncheons, 20% new, add further depth. Complex, mouthcoating and refined, this is a smart, food-worthy chardonnay with excellent ageing potential. Drink this year to 2044. 13.5%

From a low-yielding, exposed site rich in ironstone, Ferrous is a distinctive, savoury expression of Mornington Peninsula pinot noir. The nose combines cherry and strawberry with tomato leaf, graphite and a stony, mineral character. The palate is vibrant and fleshy, with sanguine red fruit, pepper and a distinctive ferrous note, alongside savoury hints of toast and smoked bacon. There’s greater firmness and leanness here than in some previous vintages, with fine but assertive tannins bringing grip and structure. Fermented in concrete and matured for 12 months in French oak, 18% new, this is an energetic, characterful pinot that benefits from air and should develop beautifully. Drink this year to 2039. 13%
