This remarkable Argentine malbec was matured for 18 years in an old foudre, Tonel 128, which concentrates and matures the flavour, and bottled exclusively for The Wine Society in bottles and magnums.

Weinert buy grapes from some remarkable old vineyards such as this Finca Torrealba malbec vineyard, which was planted around 1910. Introduced into Argentina from 1868 the malbec strains in Argentina are very different from the current French clonal selections. Argentine malbec tends to have much smaller berries and softer tannins. Old vines produce smaller crops of better balanced grapes due to their extensive root system.
It has complex aromas combining floral scents, balsam and cedar. Ample, opulent and sensual on the palate with a velvety texture, layers upon layers of flavour and an exceptionally long, sumptuous finish.
