2022 was a year of change at this iconic South African estate. It was the first vintage overseen entirely by new cellarmaster Luke O’Cuinneagain, having spent a year alongside the legendary André van Rensburg, who had been at the estate since 1998.

Having previously been at nearby Glenelly, as well as stints at Screaming Eagle in the Napa Valley and Angelus in Saint-Emilion, Luke was the perfect person to continue André’s legacy and drive Vergelegen into the next chapter of their long history.
Not afraid to make changes from the off, Luke sought to evolve the slightly complicated range into a clearer, smaller selection and updating the livery, all the while retaining the quality that made this estate so enduringly popular.
Following a number of visits and tastings since Luke took charge, we’re delighted to be offering a selection of Vergelegen’s new range, as well as UK exclusivity on a legacy wine – the Vergelegen Estate Reserve Semillon 2022 – which as of 2023 is incorporated into the Estate White.
