The cool, late-ripening 2023 growing season has produced a beautifully composed and elegant expression of Yalumba's flagship Barossa red. A blend of 55% cabernet sauvignon and 45% shiraz, aged for 19 months in French and Hungarian oak (22% new), it combines the class and classic style of Yalumba with Barossan generosity. The nose is layered and complex, opening with blackcurrant, black cherry and dark chocolate before revealing savoury notes of olive tapenade, sage, liquorice and delicate floral aromas. The palate is refined and beautifully structured, with coffee, blue fruits and sweet spice framed by long, flowing tannins and vibrant natural acidity. Stylish rather than opulent, this is a poised, ageworthy wine that showcases the balance and finesse achieved in this exceptional season. This will cellar particularly well thanks to the freshness of acidity, making it a great prospect for the long term, however with decanting it is a beautifully balanced, full and deep wine for drinking now. Drink from 2027 to 2039. 14.5%
