Wines included
The Liberator 'Francophile' Mourvèdre, Stellenbosch 2023
A new release under the 'Liberator' range this is 100% mourvédre sourced from De Morgenzon in Stellenbosch and bursts with rich bramble fruit and savoury leather and coffee notes. Not normally a grape for single-varietal wines the team at De Morgenzon have done a stellar job to retain elegance and refinement in what is still a full-throttle wine.
Tanyamacska Szekszárdi Kékfrankos, Eszterbauer 2024
This is a delicious, easy drinking red with plenty of red-berry, blueberry and wild strawberry perfume. A juicy and crunchy palate with lots of energy and freshness and chalky tannins. A Hungarian family winery that has been established since 1746, this is one of Szekszárd's great producers. A great value red that will pair well with barbecue or grilled meats, pizza and pasta dishes.
My wine by Eduard Gorodetsky Merlot, Eduard Gorodetsky 2024
This is a new project in Odesa, Ukraine by talented winemaker Eduard Gorodetsky. There is no winery yet – it's currently in progress – but it is proving understandably logistically challenging during a war. This merlot is a great example of a juicy, accessible red that is bursting with red plum, cherry and cedar spice. The tannins are present yet supple and this is an ideal red to serve with roast beef and tomato-based pasta dishes.
Juanicó Teru Teru Albariño 2025
The rot-resistant albariño prospers in Uruguay's wet climate producing a crisp wine with aspects of riesling character and bay leaf aroma. Bright refreshing and linear palate, ideal as an aperitif or with fish. Linked by the Atlantic Ocean, it's no surprise that albariño is suited to the rainy Urugayan climate (1,100mm rain a year) originating as it does from a similar climate in coastal Galicia in Spain.Uruguay means "River of painted birds" in the native Guarani language and provided the inspiration for this label featuring Uruguayan birds. Teru Teru, the Southern lapwing, often seen in vineyards is fiercely territorial. The national rugby team, Los Teros, is named after it.
Salariis Friuli Friulano 2025
Golden straw in colour, with a broad, aromatic nose of lime blossom and wisteria, layered with apple, citrus and a touch of apricot. The palate is elegant and well balanced, showing characteristic almond notes, gentle savoury depth and a soft, lingering fruity finish. A poised, gastronomic Friulano, ideal with seafood, cured hams or simply by the glass.
Vilana, Lyrarakis, Crete 2025
Vilana is a native grape of Crete and produces light, herbaceous and mineral white wines. Here Lyrarakis have utilised a short time macerating on the skins to develop texture and grip on the palate alongside flavours of orange blossom, pear and apple.
