During my visit to Galicia last year, no one captured the region's spirit quite like Xosé Lois Sebio. Outspoken, passionate, uncompromising and creative, his knowledge, sheer determination and energy transfixed me; and these qualities personify his beautiful wines. This year, we’re releasing four of them, predominantly from the 2024 vintage. They are fresh, expressive and beautifully balanced, showcasing the region's hallmark purity and elegance.

After two decades at Coto de Gomariz, one of Ribeiro’s leading estates, Xosé set out to forge his own path. Slowly and sustainably, he began buying fruit, and then vineyards, from neighbouring growers. It’s no surprise to me that he has managed to acquire some of the oldest and most sought-after plots in Gomariz, considering the clear respect and integrity he shows both people and place. Here, he blends Ribeiro’s ancient traditions with a rebellious approach and good sense of humour. He works organically and biodynamically (though not certified), from a collection of tiny-lot, high-altitude parcels, and always with a light touch in the winery - gentle extractions and minimal new oak.
The 2024 vintage delivered healthy, perfectly ripened fruit following an excellent growing season and a smooth harvest. The wines are fresh, expressive and beautifully balanced, showcasing the region's hallmark purity and elegance. The Village Blanco 2023, which blends indigenous Ribeiro grapes, is wonderfully expressive and a great-value entry point into Xosé’s wines if you’re just looking to dip your toe in. These wines all speak of place and purpose, made by someone who deeply understands and loves his land, and is determined to protect it.
