Xosé Lois Sebio Village Blanco ‘Viño da Vila de Gomariz’ Ribeiro 2024

Code: SP25641
White

A vibrant expression of Gomariz, Village is a blend of predominantly albariño and treixadura, with small amounts of native caíño blanco and albilla do Avia. Sourced from a mix of century-old and younger vines across the village's finest plots, it captures the character of one of Ribeiro's most celebrated 'grand cru' vineyard sites. Xosé ferments and ages the wine for ten months in new 2,500-litre foudres. Expressive and full of ripe orchard fruit, smoky minerality and a creamy texture, it’s albariño that brings the acidity, freshness and fruit intensity, while the treixadura adds a structure and breadth to the palate. The clay and schist soils of Gomariz add minerality. A fine, heritage-style white Ribeiro showcasing the distinctive terroir that has made Gomariz renowned for centuries. This should age nicely over the next few years. Drink this year to 2031. 13.5%

Xosé Lois Sebio Village Tinto Viño da Vila de Gomariz, Ribeiro 2024

Code: SP25631
Red

Ribeiro may be better known for its whites, but there are some cracking reds too, of which Village Tinto is one. Produced from a mix of old and young vineyards across the village of Gomariz, from local caíño longo and sousón, with a splash of ancestral varieties, it’s purely fruited, fresh and aromatic with a depth and concentration imbued by the older vines. Fermented in stainless steel, the wine underwent natural malolactic fermentation before spending two months in 500-litre oak barrels and a further ten months on its yeast lees in stainless steel, preserving its purity of fruit and sense of place. Deep cherry-purple in colour, it’s very vibrant with juicy dark forest fruit, blue flowers, wild herbs and peppery spice. The palate is fresh and balanced, with fine tannins, A red that manages to be both serious and uplifting. Drink this year to 2032. 13.5%

Xosé Lois Sebio Heaven & Hell, Ribeiro 2024

Code: SP25621
White

A structured and mouth-filling white, Heaven & Hell is Xosé Lois Sebio's take on a traditional Ribeiro white. Made using grapes from 20-70 year-old vines, he blends fruit from carefully selected vineyards across the region. The combination of cooler, elevated sites and warmer, drier vineyards, together with a range of soil types, gives the wine its depth and complexity. Predominantly treixadura and albariño with a touch of godello, the blend stays true to Ribeiro's tradition of field blends rather than varietal wines. The grapes are sourced from a patchwork of old clay and granite-based vineyards in Gomariz. Fermented and aged for ten months in large, used French vats, without malolactic fermentation, this is a memorable and distinctive white. The nose opens with floral notes of white blossom and chamomile, layered over hints of hay, green apple and aromatic herbs. The palate is structured yet refined, with real depth and length. A rare Galician white that’s both intensely characterful and effortlessly drinkable. The striking label takes inspiration from Ronnie James Dio's Heaven & Hell, reimagining the angels and devils from the song's iconic artwork. The angel represents the wine's elegance and finesse, while the devil reflects the intense summer heat that shapes the vineyards and drives ripeness in the fruit. Drink this year to 2032. 13.5%

Xosé Lois Sebio Salvaxe, Ribeiro 2024

Code: SP25611
White

Surely one of the most exciting wines emerging from Ribeiro today, Salvaxe is a beautifully textured, plump yet saline white blend, full of energy and character. It hails from a 90-year-old field-blend parcel in O Forcadal, where up to ten indigenous varieties contribute to its remarkable complexity and finesse. Xosé Lois Sebio takes a deliberately low-intervention approach - minimal sulphur, slow fermentation with native yeasts and ageing in large French oak barrels, with no malolactic fermentation. The result is a wine of striking precision and depth, with elegant acidity, layers of stone and orchard fruit, subtle herbal notes and a mineral tension that runs through the palate. Honest, expressive and pure, this is a fleshy yet vertical white with both soul and structure, perfect alongside flavourful seafood dishes. Drink this year to 2032. 13.5%
