Anyday Rhône Case
Wines included
Costières de Nîmes La Ciboise, Chapoutier 2024
From a stony plateau to the south of the Roman city of Nîmes in the south of France comes this exuberantly fruity grenache-syrah blend, offering lots of energy and crunchy fruit with spice and liquorice. A perfect anyday drinking red.
Côtes-du-Rhône Rive Droite Rive Gauche 2024
.A fruit-forward, juicy and quaffable red. The name was conjured up because this wine is sourced from both banks of the Rhône, with the grenache coming mainly from the left and the syrah from the village of Daumazan, near the Pont du Gard, on the right bank. A great value red that can be enjoyed with or without food. Perfect pairing with barbecued meats and pizza.
The Society's Côtes-du-Rhône 2024
Delicious bright and fruity grenache-syrah blend from an outstanding producer in Vinsobres. Expect brambles and dark cherry and plums with hints of liquorice and clove spice. Juicy core and well-handled tannins from the 2024 vintage that has more freshness than the riper 2023. Thanks to the generous support of the supplier we are delighted to offer this with a saving of £14 per 12-bottle case until 11.59pm on Monday 13th July.
Un Amour de Syrah, Château Beaubois 2024
From a biodynamically and organically farmed, family-owned estate in the Côstieres de Nimes, this Vin de France syrah is a bright, juicy and lightweight red that has plenty of pepper and spice as well as cherry and redcurrant notes. This organic and biodynamically farmed estate has a long history, but sibling owners Fanny and François Boyer are very forward thinking in terms of sustainable methods and we to name them one of our Wine Society Pioneers accordingly. They use only computerised drip irrigation with underground sensors and energy use is moderated by the winery being underground for natural cooling, while concrete tanks which are easier to warm and cool as necessary. Biodiversity is positively encouraged, with natural woodland and open ground are left for nature and their two different areas of bees. Though they have stopped using a small flock of goats because they were too efficient at introducing nitrogen to the soil, they will reintroduce them in two or three years when it will need a boost. Finally, the Boyers are part of a scheme where people can return their bottles for reuse, the first in the area to do so.
The Society's French Syrah 2024
This is a lovely, supple syrah, brimming with bramble fruits and spice. Most of it comes from vineyards in Brézème, on limestone soils, a dozen miles or so from Crozes-Hermitage in the northern Rhône. A perfect little red for grills and simple meals.
Côtes-du-Rhône, Domaine Jaume 2023
This family run estate in the village of Vinsobres is a members' favourite for producing great-value and consistently well-made wines. In the southern Rhône, the climate is influenced by the Alps which brings in cool breezes and moderates the sunny, warm days and the resulting wine is full of brambles and spice with a juicy core. Perfect to pair with tomato-based pasta dishes, Moroccan lamb and slow-cooked beef brisket. Thanks to the generous support of the supplier we are delighted to offer this with a saving of £15 per 12-bottle case until 11.59pm on Monday 13th July.
