Un Amour de Syrah, Château Beaubois 2024
Red Wine from France - Rhone
From a biodynamically and organically farmed, family-owned estate in the Côstieres de Nimes, this Vin de France syrah is a bright, juicy and lightweight red that has plenty of pepper and spice as well as cherry and redcurrant notes. This organic and biodynamically farmed estate has a long history, but sibling owners Fanny and François Boyer are very forward thinking in terms of sustainable methods and we to name them one of our Wine Society Pioneers accordingly. They use only computerised drip irrigation with underground sensors and energy use is moderated by the winery being underground for natural cooling, while concrete tanks which are easier to warm and cool as necessary. Biodiversity is positively encouraged, with natural woodland and open ground are left for nature and their two different areas of bees. Though they have stopped using a small flock of goats because they were too efficient at introducing nitrogen to the soil, they will reintroduce them in two or three years when it will need a boost. Finally, the Boyers are part of a scheme where people can return their bottles for reuse, the first in the area to do so.
