Barolo Riserva, Anselma Adasi 2016
Red Wine from Italy - Piedmont
From Famiglia Anselma, a family‑run producer established in the heart of Barolo’s classic zone, this 2016 Adasi Riserva is now showing compelling development after a decade in bottle. The wine is a blend of parcels from several Me.G.A. crus including Ravera, Bussia, Mosconi and Lazzarito, reflecting both the pedigree of the sites and the exceptional quality of the vintage. This Riserva has a fresh core of red and dark fruit remains apparent beneath layers of spice, new leather and savoury, earthy complexity. Notes of dried cherry and raspberry mingle with hints of star anise, cocoa and a subtle balsamic lift, all supported by lively acidity and refined, velvety tannins. Now drinking with poise, it combines power with finesse, offering both depth and expressive nuance – a richly textured Barolo that rewards careful decanting, and a large glass to allow the perfume to really build.
