The growing demand for Rhône whites is continuing and following my recent visit to both the north and south of the region, I’m delighted to report that the 2025s are compelling, delivering both charm and precision. We have put together a mix from the north and south that are drinking well now. Sadly, quantities are small, so I would suggest buying now if you want to enjoy some 2025 whites in your cellar.

Small yields. Big personalities!
Quantity in 2025 is down for two main reasons: poor flowering and fruit set in spring followed by a very warm and dry summer, leading to smaller bunches and grapes. Rain at the end of August was welcome, although most of the whites had been picked by this time. Following the cool profile of 2024, the 2025 vintage sees a return to the riper and rounder style seen in 2023 and 2020, but not as rich and powerful as 2019 or 2022.
The white 2025s had a lot more energy than I was anticipating. The producers believe the vines are adapting to the ever-changing climate. The wines have a juicy, vibrant acidity, often with well-handled phenolic structure that suggests they have some capacity to age.
