Big Reds Case
Wines included
The Society's Corbières 2023
Dark and brimming with hedgerow fruit and a touch of spice, this is a full-bodied wine from the rugged Corbières landscape. Syrah is the principal grape alongside carignan, mourvèdre and grenache. An excellent choice for a wide variety of foods, from hearty stews to a very meaty pizza or even a hit of chilli.
Les Figues, Domaine la Bastide 2024
From a grower in the Visan region of the southern Rhône, this is a great-value red wine that is a blend of mainly syrah, grenache, carignan and mourvèdre. There is a juiciness and fruit-forward character with spice and garrigue adding layers of complexity to this enjoyable anyday red.
Percheron Shiraz-Mourvèdre, Coastal Region 2024
This generous and spicy South African blend of shiraz and mourvèdre has rich brambly fruit and dark plum flavours, and ripe, easy-going tannins. A Wine Society exclusive and a regular member favourite.
Lopez de Haro Garnacha, Rioja 2022
A wonderful, creamy Rioja, unique because it is made from 100% garnacha which adds spice and a succulent red-fruit flair. Vanilla and cocoa result from the ten months in barrel making it soft, smooth and very easy to drink.
Negroamaro Vigna Flaminio, Vallone 2024
‘If you want a full-bodied red,’ said one of our 2026 Wine Champions tasters, ‘what a great bet!’ A generous, glossy, abundantly black-fruited but slightly herbaceous red from the heel of Italy. But as another taster noted, ‘for all its ripe, sweet fruit, it’s got an appetising savoury quality, too.’ A winning combination.
Ravasqueira Encantado Tinto, Alentejano 2025
A blend of syrah, touriga franca and alicante bouschet with an immediately expressive nose of blue and purple fruits, cassis and a clear sweep of sweet spice from oak. The wood is prominent yet sits within the wine’s generous personality, adding warmth and richness rather than drying the finish. Plush and plump on the palate, it offers ripe fruit, supple tannins and a lively line of acidity that keeps everything fresh and forward. Approachable and open knit, this is an easy going, crowd pleasing Alentejo red with plenty of flavour and a bright, juicy finish.
