Book and Bottle Club - Jancis Robinson MW
For our fifth episode of the Society's Book & Bottle Club we are delighted to welcome one of the most influential figures in the world of wine. For almost 50 years, Jancis Robinson MW has helped shape how wine is understood, discussed and enjoyed. The book likely needs no introduction with wine lovers, as this episode celebrates the publication of the ninth edition of The World Atlas of Wine.
Please note: this is not a live Zoom event and you will instead be able to watch the pre-recorded video on The Society's YouTube channel from Thursday 24th September. By registering, you will receive an email to notify that the pre-recorded video is available to watch.
Jancis was filmed in conversation with our Director of Wine, Pierre Mansour, who personally owes a lot to The World Atlas of Wine. On joining the wine industry straight out of university 30 years ago, Pierre turned to this very book to build his knowledge.
For this latest edition, discover what regions have been added to the Atlas' hallowed pages, the changes experienced in the global industry since the last edition 7 years ago, what is predicted to change over the coming years and more. An episode not to be missed.
Jancis has selected three wines to pair with this latest edition of The World Atlas of Wine:
SP24731 Vinos López La Bodegaza Blanco, Valdejalón 2023 (£15.50)
IT43721 Rosso di Valtellina Nebbiolo, Arpepe 2023 (£32.50)
Members of The Wine Society can buy a copy of The World Atlas of Wine with an exclusive 15% discount from Special Edition Books directly here - n.b. if the discount doesn't automatically apply, please use code WORLDWINE15 at checkout
Also available from Jancis Robinson is the ultimate universal wine glass. A collaboration with glassmaker Richard Brendon, the Precision X range is a machine-made version of their original glass. Identical in design and shape but more robust this is the perfect glass to enjoy all styles of wine, from Champagne to sherry.
