The Society's 150th Anniversary Saint-Emilion Grand Cru 2016
We have worked with the Despagne family for many years and were delighted when they agreed to blend a wine for our 150th Anniversary celebrations, especially as the 2016 vintage in Bordeaux was amongst the best of the last 30 years. This is perfect for drinking now, although it has the capacity to age for several more years. Made from vines bordering Pomerol, the unique blend combines 80% merlot with 20% cabernet franc for freshness. Aged for 18 months, 50% was matured in French oak barrels and the balance in stainless steel. It reveals a bouquet of ripe damsons and a touch of lavender. On the palate it is fresh and vibrant, with suave tannins and plush merlot-fruit texture. For more on the story of this wine, please scroll down.
Château Tronquoy-Lalande, Saint-Estèphe 2016
Under the same ownership as nearby Château Montrose, and the same care and attention is lavished on this excellent property located at the northern end of the Médoc. This is a full, rich claret from an exceptional vintage for Saint-Estèphe.
