Cote du Jura Chardonnay Champ Millot, Domaine La Grapp' A 2023
Domaine La Grapp’A is an exciting and dynamic estate that was set up by a young couple who started the project from the 2021 vintage. Aurelie Parla and Julien Maublanc have only seven hectares and are based just outside of Arbois. Previously Julien’s family sold the grapes to the local co-operative, and although they worked organically for over 15 years, Julien’s philosophy is different. They are moving to biodynamics and are passionate about agroforestry, having livestock on the farm as well as developing oeno-tourism, with a yurt on site, and planting truffle trees. This chardonnay comes from the Champ Millot plot and is planted on red marl and Dolomite limestone soils. It spends two years in barrel prior to bottling and produces a wine that delivers plenty of yellow stone fruit notes combined with a salinity and pithiness on the palate.
