White Wine from South Africa - Coastal Region
From one of the rising stars in the Cape, husband and wife team David and Nadia Sadie specialise in extremely taut, mineral, bone-dry whites from the Swartland region of South Africa with chenin blanc at the heart. Their Aristargos is 51% chenin blanc, 11% semillon, 10% colombard, 8% roussanne, 6% clairette blanc, 6% marsanne, 4% verdelho, 2% viognier and 2% grenache blanc. The nose is incredibly pure with aromas of wet slate and stone fruit. The palate is tight and linear with chalky tannins thanks to light skin contact on the colombard and semillon leading to a long and mineral finish. Can be broached young but these wines famously need time.
