El Esquilón Suertes del Marqués, Tenerife 2021
Red Wine from Spain - Canary Islands & Balearics
A powerful yet elegant expression of listan negro with 30% tintilla from a single parcel “El Esquilón”, that tastes so reminiscent of nebbiolo you might almost think you were in Piedmont if it wasn’t for the salty, chalky volcanic snap on the finish. Pruned in the mesmerising braided cordón trenzado manner, typical of the Orotava Valley on a sandy plot at 500m altitude this is the silkiest and most opulent of all Jonaton García Lima's reds buyer Harriet Kininmonth tasted, with peppery, leafy hints among all those concentrated black berry fruits.
