Erciş Karası ‘1770’, Yaban Kolektif 2023
Red Wine from Turkey - Turkey
Yaban Kolektif is focused on bringing the forgotten grapes back to our tables in order to save these special indigenous varieties from extinction, working closely with growers to help introduce better agricultural practices. From the village of Bayramlı, in the Erciş district of Van, these grapes were grown by Şahin İşler and his family. By Lake Van, at an altitude of 1770 metres, and planted with 57-year-old ungrafted vines, this wine is so fresh and light at only 11.8%, with a restrained concentration. Hand-harvested Erciş karası grapes were aged in a mixture of clay küps (amphora-like vessels) and neutral oak barrels. Juicy and bright red fruits are supported by fine tannins and a light bodied core. Perfect slightly chilled.
