Graham's Colheita Tawny Port 1961
Port from Portugal - Douro Valley
A remarkable wine which clearly demonstrates Graham's mastery of long cask ageing. This 1961 vintage tawny is produced from a tiny crop of beautifully concentrated fruit, principally from the iconic Quinta dos Malvedos, it has spent more than six decades slowly maturing in seasoned oak in the Grahams lodge in Vila Nova de Gaia before release. The result is a wine with incredible depth and refinement, offering complex aromas of marzipan, demerara, honey, butterscotch, mint and eucalyptus. The palate is sumptuous yet impeccably balanced, layering soft caramel, apricot preserve and citrus with polished notes of tobacco and tea. Rich, endlessly complex and remarkably fresh, this is a rare opportunity to experience one of Graham's finest and most venerable tawny ports. The absolute pinnacle of fine tawny production and a coup to be able to offer this special wine to Society members.
