Graham's Colheita Tawny Port 1997

Port from Portugal - Douro Valley
0 star rating 0 Reviews
Founded in 1820, Graham’s has long been regarded as one of the Douro’s benchmark port houses, taking fruit from its five renowned quintas. This 1997 Single Harvest Tawny has been maturing in barrel for over 25 years before bottling, resulting in an exceptional wine with inviting aromas of quince preserve, vanilla, soft caramel, honey and raisins, with delicate almond, marzipan and a subtle smoky note. The palate balances bright red fruit with citric freshness, leading to a long finish of walnuts, tea, cherry and tobacco. Unlike Vintage Port, a tawny has already completed its maturation before bottling, so it is released ready to enjoy. While it will keep well for many years if stored carefully, it is unlikely to develop significantly further in bottle, so its perfect whenever you decide to pull the cork. Either drink chilled for a remarkably fresh and delicious aperitif, or serve with cheese – or do both to bookend a good meal!
