Pinot meunier may be the least well known of the three main Champagne grapes but it`s a speciality of the Vallée de la Marne. It forms 80% of this cuvée from the Olivier family`s steep south-facing slopes in the commune of Trélou-sur-Marne, and the wine is a plummy, characterful delight. This new edition to our range, a small house run two current generations, a father and his two daughters really stood out at a recent tasting. Produced by the fourth generation of the Lemaire family in the premier cru village of Hautvillers, the historic home of Champagne, this classic blend of equal parts pinot meunier, pinot noir and chardonnay is aged for 30 months on its yeast lees before release. Based on the excellent 2022 vintage, it combines crisp citrus and orchard-fruit flavours with a ripe, generous texture and fine mousse. Les Parcelles is a blend of plots in the grand cru village of Bouzy, and, as such, a pinot-dominant (70%) blend with chardonnay. The base vintage is 2022, with 30% reserve wines and four years on the lees, leading to a plum-scented and savoury Champagne.
