Haut-Médoc 2009 & 2010 Case (Revised Selection)
Wines included
Château Belgrave, Haut-Médoc 2009
Fragrant, elegant Belgrave, with discreet notes of spice and cedar, this has a rich and ripe palate with a lovely juicy quality backed by velvety tannins to support extensive bottle age. Hold until 2017 at the earliest. 75% cabernet sauvignon, 20% merlot, 50% petit verdot.
Château Camensac, 2010, Haut-Médoc
This property continues the vast improvement noticed last year, when Céline and Jean-Pierre Foubet of Chasse-Spleen took over . Full-flavoured generous claret.
Château Camensac, Haut-Médoc 2009
In lesser Bordeaux vintages, de Camensac can be on the lighter side. Here, in the exceptional 2009 vintage, it has retained its elegance and freshness but has extra depth and ripeness. A winning combination. Matured for 15 to 18 months in French oak barrels, 40% of which were new.
Château Cantemerle, Haut-Médoc 2009
A hugely successful vintage for one of the most charming and affordable of all classed-growth clarets. The accent, as ever, is on providing a lovely well-balanced wine for enjoyable drinking. Classic, savoury left-bank Bordeaux.
Château La Lagune, Haut Médoc 2010
An outstanding vintage for this high-performing estate, a touch more powerful and structured than the lovely 2009 and worth keeping yet. Merlot (35%) was very velvety this year. 10% petit verdot added freshness, body and spice and the 55% cabernet the elegance and class. All three varieties are beautifully balanced.
