Invincible Número Dois Branco, Douro 2022
A superb, savoury and complex white with an alluring combination of almond, minerality, peaches and brioche on the nose. An ideal choice for lovers of fine white Rhône or Rioja Blanco looking to expand their horizons, this blend of Portuguese varieties rabigato, arinto and códega do larinho has been cleverly oaked, helping to enhance the texture and notes of toasty brioche without taking centre stage. The palate is complex, plush and pure, with bright and fresh acidity running from front to back. Notes of nutmeg and fresh-baked pastry build and complement the lemon curd, apricot and lime-zest flavours. The intensity of the old vines lifts it all. Seriously smart wine from Marc Kent (of Boekenhoutskloof in South Africa) and Rita Marques, from the Douro Valley.

Companhia de Vinhos Invencivel
The Companhia de Vinhos Invencivel, to give it its full name, Or Invincible, as we know it, is an exciting new venture we jumped at being among the first to work with.
Rita Marques has quietly, thoughtfully, been making wine in the Douro Valley for years now. Then one of those wonderful wine world exchanges of culture and winemaking experience resulted in a friendship resulted in a friendship and collaboration with Marc Kent, long-term cellarmaster and director of Boekenhoutskloof in South Africa.
Different people from different continents and winemaking experiences, but a meeting of minds, they have now taken the leap of investing in an old Quinta and tiny winery in the beautiful Douro, putting their own collective stamp on the resulting wines.
