Jesús Acha Senda de Haro Blanco, Rioja 2018

0 star rating 0 Reviews
Jesús Acha Blanco 2018 is a focused, site-driven white from Alto Najerilla in La Rioja, made as a tribute by Raúl Acha to his father, Jesús, who spent his life working the vineyards around Cárdenas. Jesús made his first wine at just ten years old, beginning a lifelong connection to the Senda de Haro parcel, which remains the source of this wine today. The organically farmed, north-facing vineyards sit at altitude, slowing ripening and preserving freshness and natural acidity. Predominantly viura, with small proportions of traditional local varieties, the wine is hand-harvested, spontaneously fermented and matured in earthenware jars and large French oak. Aromatically precise, it shows subtle reduction, citrus and orchard fruit, with herbal and saline notes. The palate is broad yet controlled, layered rather than powerful, and carried by a firm, saline line of acidity. The pinnacle of El Pacto’s white wines, it stands up to some of the great white Burgundies.
