Five Points Brewing Company
Edward Mason knows a thing or two about beer. As a pub landlord he owns (or has owned) a number of well-known establishments in Leeds and London. Living in the capital and having his finger on the pulse of the pub scene he got together with brewer Greg Hobbs to establish the Five Points Brewing Company in an old black cab garage underneath the Victorian arches of Hackney Downs station early in 2013. They released their first brew in March of that year.
Hackney residents themselves, they were keen to stay in the area when setting up the brewery and have achieved their aim of being an integral part of the local community. Their sense of social responsibility means paying the London Living Wage as a minimum to their staff, sourcing the power for the brewhouse from 100% renewable sources, and a commitment to reinvesting 5% of their profits in local charities and community projects.
They produce a portfolio of beers in keg, cask and bottle with a core range of eight brews including the Railway Porter.
