Juicy, ripe red-cherry and strawberry-scented Italian red from warm yet windy vineyards in the deep south-east of Italy. A great go-to wine, combining the fresh acidity of sangiovese with the richness of primitivo in a style which works well with all kinds of foods but especially pasta smothered in punchily spiced tomato or meaty sauces.

A modest, inexpensive Spanish red from the country's most famous grape. This is smooth, fruity and more mellow than usual with a touch of cedar. Everything about Bodegas Príncipe de Viana is vast. Owners of over 400 hectares of vines in Navarra, they control a further 500 hectares, but the winemaking approach is sensitive and modest, aiming always for clean, balanced flavours and offering superb value for money. It makes a delicious partner to Serrano ham and other Spanish charcuterie.

Impressive but easy-drinking oaked chardonnay from warm Swartland vineyards in South Africa, light enough to drink on its own but with enough body for the table. Ripe melon and peach meld with a touch of sourdough and spice.

Historically we've offered this wine as a blend alongside cinsault and mourvèdre but in 2025, a vintage that's being called 'the best of a generation', the shiraz was so good we wanted to showcase it on its own. Produced by the ever impressive Riebeek Cellars in the Swartland from vines across the region this is rich, spicy and generously textured shiraz with a core of spiced bramble and blackberry, with hints of pepper, five spice and smoke.

A delicious, full bodied and classically styled Australian blend of shiraz and cabernet sauvignon from Tahbilk. This has robust notes of damsons, blackcurrant, blueberry, cracked black pepper and a hint of eucalyptus on the nose; surprisingly and reassuringly complex at the price point! The palate has plenty of tannin and generosity, with a good lift and freshness keeping things under control. There's a real blend of juicy fruit with savoury notes here, combining plum and cassis with attractive earthiness, a leathery note and sweet spices. This is a generous, plush and classic Aussie wine, which is perfect for anyone looking for fruit-forward, silky and classically styled red.

Bright and fresh nettle-scented sauvignon blanc from a very cool coastal vineyard near Paredones, just over 5 miles from the Pacific, with granite and quartz soils. Made from three parcels with differing aspects. It was kept on its yeast lees to enrich the mid palate, and there is no oak.

Another fresh and zesty vintage, the 2024 shows typical minerality with refreshing aromatics and pronounced purity from the Vinet family's best old-vine plot, 'Les Ratelles'.

A lovely introduction to cortese, the grape behind Gavi, grown across Piedmont in north-west Italy. Made in a crisp, dry style without any oak, this is light and invigorating, with pear, apple and lemon flavours. A perfect 'fridge-door' white and one that is a delight to drink with pasta dressed with a Genovese pesto sauce or a seafood salad.

Fragrant, fruity, full-flavoured southern French white, the happy marriage of two worlds with crisp sauvignon coming from Gascony and full-bodied, peachy viognier coming from Languedoc.

Popular well-rounded Loire pinot, light and fresh, with bright, red-berry and cherry fruit. Best served on the cooler side, this is an easy-drinking lunchtime red.

An expressive, oaky white Rioja which is smooth and rich with nutty, floral fruit to balance the attractive vanilla notes. Navajas get their hands on some of the finest fruit from Rioja`s best vineyards. They used to sell on the fruit to the big names including CVNE but now, wisely, have decided to keep it for themselves.

A classic Languedoc blend of carignan and grenache, with a splash of merlot adding suppleness. Brilliant value southern French red delivering fresh, uncomplicated fruit and soft tannins.
