Rall Grenache Noir, Swartland 2024

Red Wine from South Africa - Coastal Region
0 star rating 0 Reviews
A new cuvée for Donovan Rall, who, while no stranger to working with grenache noir, has never bottled it as a single varietal wine for his Rall label. From a still quite young vineyard, this has a perfume that is both floral and spicy, with rosehip and rich red berries and hedgerow fruit. Donovan says he is seeking balance here, ‘not a light, hipster style or a too-ripe style,’ and indeed there is significant, even dense, structure, especially on the back palate, with notable depth of sappy red fruit, liquorice and dried rosemary flavours. There is vigour and drive and focus to this grenache and it is an exciting new addition to the range which we are delighted to have UK exclusivity on at The Wine Society.
