The Ribera del Duero and Priorat Collection
Wines included
Bohórquez Reserva, Ribera del Duero 2011
An excellent, classically styled Spanish red from this leading fine wine region and a small property that members have followed eagerly for several years. Round and rich with smoky, tobacco flavour and wonderful harmony. It was so enjoyed by member Michael M. that he reviewed it as follows on 22 March 2022: 'At the treat end of my own pricing scale, but well worth it. Lovely fruit flavours and tobacco, plus maybe some eucalyptus…`
Viña Pedrosa Reserva, Ribera del Duero 2018
A serious and elegant Spanish reserva, selected from vineyards over 45 years old. A profound wine with wonderful acidity to lift the intense, smoky flavours. Pedrosa is entirely tinto fino (tempranillo) and the reserva, aged for two years in French and American oak, reflects the power and full structure that is the bodega`s signature style.
Felix Callejo El Lebrero, Albillo Mayor, Ribera del Duero 2020
A new find this year from Spain's other fine wine capital, RIbera del Duero, and a rare example of a white wine from here. This has a attractive biscuity notes, soft in texture with a very light touch of classy French oak.
Felix Callejo Finca Valdelroble, Ribera del Duero 2020
A new find this year from Spain's other fine wine capital, RIbera del Duero. A blend of 75% tempranillo and 25% merlot from a single vineyard at 930m altitude, which intensifies the fruit and retains acidity, this is a sophisticated and pure Ribera, plump and creamy with ripe tannins and long finish.
Marta Maté, Ribera del Duero 2020
One of Ribera del Duero's top bodegas which is yet to be well known outside of Spain. This is beautifully structured and velvety with intense and pure flavours of quince and spice. From 100 year-old vineyards and aged in French oak for a year.
Mas Doix Salanques, Priorat 2019
A wonderful, beautifully made wine from this rising star estate in north-west Spain's famous Priorat region. The secret behind Mas Doix is the old carignan (25%) which provides lift and fragrance to this inky, concentrated and textured Priorat with 65% garnacha and 10% syrah.
