Sancerre ‘Les Chailloux’, François et Jean-Marie Cherrier 2025
White Wine from France - Loire
A member favourite from the Cherrier family in this flagship Loire appellation, this Sancerre is creamy textured and fresh, with typical touch of salinity and a crisp finish. The Cherrier family have had vines in Sancerre since 1848 and today run a thriving wine business, at their Domaine de la Rossignole. It is managed by brothers François and Jean-Marie, who both trained in Beaune before returning to the family property to make wine. The domaine is near Verdigny and covers 14 hectares of vines, the majority of which are sauvignon blanc. More recently they have bought a property in Menetou-Salon.

François et Jean-Marie Cherrier
François and Jean-Marie Cherrier work with father Pierre at this Sancerre estate which was established by Maurice Cherrier in 1927. Over the years the family have accumulated 14 hectares of vineyards underpinned by classic silex and chalk soils.
Several green harvests to lower the number of bunches on the vine lead to low yields, and hand harvesting ensures that only the best fruit is picked. In the winery vinification takes place in stainless steel and the wines see no oak before release.
