Excellent barrel fermented (20% new) cool climate California chardonnay. This stylish white has great balance with apple, peach and apricot fruits, well supported by the cedar, toasted oak and grippy mouthfeel following yeast-lees stirring. This jewel-bright, coastal-influenced gem is gorgeously pure with wonderful fresh red-berry fruit, nicely balanced oak and a long, spiced finish. Colombian-born, French-trained Bibiana has worked at great estates in France: Château Haut-Brion, La Mission Haut-Brion in Bordeaux, Domainer Stephane Ogier and Domaine Clusel-Roch in Côte-Rôtie. Legendary Rioja from this acutely traditional bodega in Haro. The 2013 Tondonia red is 70% tempranillo with 20% garnacha and 10% graciano and mazuelo combined. The reserva spends six years in barrel (just one would satisfy the DO regulations) and several more than the required two in bottle before release. The result is a balanced, pure and savoury style, with crushed cherries, forest floor and wild herbs. Long and complete.
