The Joy of Wine Experience Home Tasting Kit
Wines included
The Society's Australian Shiraz 2019
Bold, generous and full-bodied Australian shiraz, which is bursting with flavours of black cherry, blueberry and blackberries. Made especially for us by multi-award-winning winemaker Paul Hotker of Bleasdale Vineyards.
The Society's Cava Reserva Brut NV
For the second year in a row, some of the loftiest scores were bestowed upon one of our lowest-price sparklers at our annual Wine Champions blind tastings. Made in the same way as Champagne by the small family house of Sumarroca, this effervescent bargain`s fragrant appley flavour and brioche-like richness proved irresistible.
The Society's Chablis 2020
Bright and firm, 2020 has produced lovely fresh, mineral Chablis. We made this blend from three complementary wines from our long-term supplier JM Brocard. This is the perfect choice to partner great seafood, especially oysters.
The Society's Chilean Limarí Sauvignon Blanc 2020
This is a crisp Chilean sauvignon blanc with blackcurrant-leaf aromas and a refreshing palate, produced by Tabalí from cool vineyards in Limarí.
The Society's Prosecco
Prosecco has long been a favourite of the Venetians, but now the secret is well and truly out! The glera grape thrives on the sometimes steeply sloped vineyards of the province of Treviso in Veneto, where Marisa Merotto and Cesare Adami`s artisanal winery is located. Yields here are naturally lower than those on the valley floors, giving a more intense style of wine. Light, dry, zesty and mineral, with a delightfully crisp finish, this peach and pear-scented sparkling wine is an ideal aperitif. Cesare's estate, Riva dei Frati, is based in the Valdobbiadene area where the limestone soils yield the fossilised ammonites that we depict on our stylish new label
The Society's Saar Riesling 2018
A deliciously, round and fruity German riesling blended for us from top vineyards sites in the Saar valley by the team at Von Kesselstatt. Charm, precision and persistence, all are present in this riesling, and we're proud to put our name to it.
The Society's White Burgundy 2020
Ripe and round yet with a broad, appley palate and fresh finish. For good reason this white Burgundy is consistently our bestselling wine. Its ongoing quality reflects the deep involvement in its selection by successive buyers and the skill of our ‘man on the ground’, Jean-Marc Darbon, who excels in sourcing the right blending options for us to work with.
The Society's French Syrah 2020
This is a northern Rhône syrah, with elements from both banks including an element from Brézème, a micro-region a few miles to the south of Crozes-Hermitage. Plenty of colour and rich, spicy fruit, in this ripe vintage.
The Society's Claret 2020
This friendly and fresh-tasting claret is one of The Wine Society's most consistently popular wines. Supplied for over a quarter of a century by the family-owned Maison Sichel, the bespoke blend varies from vintage to vintage, but merlot takes the lead role, and the wine is made without any oak to avoid masking its bright red and black-fruit flavours. This is made to be drunk on its own or with a wide variety of dishes. The stylish new label features three Greek muses, inspired by those that adorn one of the city`s great landmarks, the Grand Théâtre de Bordeaux opera house. Please note: We've taken the step to remove the capsule (the covering on the top of the bottle) from this wine, as part of our sustainability strategy. This will have no adverse effect on the quality of the wine but reduces waste. The wine is also bottled in a light-weight glass bottle (420g or less) that reduces our carbon emissions, as it requires less materials to produce and less energy to transport.
