The Society's French Pinot Noir 2024

A pinot to delight the senses: fresh, round and fruity with a hint of cherry and plenty of charm. Best drunk a little cool. Much of it is sourced from around Limoux, which works well in years of heatwaves.

France £8.95 per bottle
2025 - 2026

The Society's Vinho Verde 2024

Fresh, round and fruity, with the merest hint of spritz, this is a popular, easy-drinking style from northern Portugal, the blend tending to be around half each of alvarinho and trajadura. The Society`s Vinho Verde, made by the highly regarded Adega de Monção co-operative, comes from vineyards overlooking the border with Spain along the beautiful Minho river in the Monção e Melgaço sub region. This is delicious with shellfish or light lunches, and it is such seafood staples of the region that appear on the smart new label in the shape of the polvo, AKA octopus, that is so much enjoyed with Vinho Verde up and down the Portuguese coast.

Portugal £8.25 per bottle
2025 - 2026

The Society's White Burgundy 2024

A fine, dry white Burgundy from the Mâconnais in southern Burgundy, the warmest part of the region. The wine is ripe and round, with flavours of apple and stone fruit, a hint of citrus and a lovely streak of minerality. The quality of the wine reflects the deep involvement in its selection by successive buyers and the skill of our ‘man on the ground`, Jean-Marc Darbon, who excels in sourcing the right blending options for us to work with. The zander (sandre in French) thrives in the rivers of Burgundy and is shown on this wine`s new label. It has a fine flavour because its carnivorous and so is much superior to that of weed-eating fish. It`s as good as wild brown trout to eat and appears frequently on menus in Burgundian restaurants. Don`t hesitate to try it.

The Society's Portuguese Red, Península de Setúbal 2024

From family-owned Casa Ermelinda Freitas, south-east of Lisbon, this friendly red combines local castelão, which is all juicy red fruits, with Alicante Bouschet, which brings darker black fruit and fleshiness. Casa Ermelinda Freitas is a significant family-owned company established in 1920 and run by successive generations of dynamic women. This is a supple, juicy red to enjoy on its own or with a host of dishes. A good, honest, easy-drinking house red which has proven a real hit with Society members.

Portugal £7.50 per bottle
2025 - 2027

Delicious bright and fruity grenache-syrah blend from an outstanding producer in Vinsobres. Expect brambles and dark cherry and plums with hints of liquorice and clove spice. Juicy core and well-handled tannins from the 2024 vintage that has more freshness than the riper 2023. The Society's Rioja Crianza 2021

Rioja is Spain's pre-eminent wine region, renowned for its graceful, stylish wines, mainly from the tempranillo grape. The Society's Rioja is made in the classic, traditional style that Society members so adore by Bodegas Palacio, who are based in the spectacular fortified village of Laguardia. Ageing in oak for 15 months results in a smooth, mellow and juicy tempranillo with red-fruit flavour complemented by hallmark savoury, leathery complexity. The ageing of wine in barrels is absolutely integral to winemaking in Rioja, and our new label for this member favourite pays homage to the cooperage tools that are used to make these traditional vessels.

Spain £10.95 per bottle
2025 - 2028

The Society's Sicilian Reserve Red 2022

Save £20 per case. Our members love this bold yet balanced nero d'Avola, and its winning performance in our 2026 Wine Champions tastings showed why. ‘Soft, full and ripe’ with ‘plump black fruit and a hint of coffee’, it performs a brilliant balancing act between fruity generosity and oak-influenced spice and structure. Brilliant value. Thanks to the generous support of our supplier, we’re delighted to offer this wine with a case saving of £20 per 12 bottles until 11.59pm on Friday 24th July.

The Society's New Zealand Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2025

This is a crisp, fresh and accessible sauvignon blanc with tropical notes. A pleasantly sophisticated wine made for us by Spy Valley, who have been producing some of the best-quality and best-value wine in Marlborough for a number of years now. As a smaller business than many their attention to detail through the winemaking process is outstanding. This is an easy-going, pretty and delicate sauvignon blanc, with a classic fresh-cut-grass character that complements the citrus and tropical fruit . The crisp, mouthwatering character makes it perfect with aromatic fish dishes, lunchtime salads or even just on its own. Friendly, charming, refreshing, easy-going and a great representation of the better entry-level sauvignon blancs coming out of Marlborough.

The Society's White Rioja 2023

A 2026 Wine Champion, this traditionally styled white Rioja ‘really stands out’ for its ‘genuine personality’. One taster eulogised: ‘loads of tension, tropical and nutty notes, texture, an apple pie-like note, really well-integrated oak, beautiful fruit, long and complex.’ Another: ‘it’s a wine that just does more.’

2025 - 2028

The Society's Claret 2024

This friendly and fresh-tasting claret is one of The Wine Society`s most consistently popular wines. Supplied for over a quarter of a century by family-owned Maison Sichel, the bespoke blend varies from vintage to vintage, but merlot takes the lead role, and the wine is made without any oak to avoid masking its bright, red and black-fruit flavours. This is made to be drunk young, on its own or with a wide variety of dishes. The label for this perennial favourite shows three muses that can also be seen on the Grand Theatre opera house in Bordeaux itself.

2025 - 2028

The Society's Pinot Grigio 2025

This elegant Italian pinot grigio, made exclusively for us by New Zealander Matt Thomson working with the Cantina di Verona co-operative, really hits the spot. With lemon and ripe conference pear on the nose, this is refreshing and bright with a crisp, slightly salty finish.

Italy £9.95 per bottle
2026 - 2027

The Society's Picpoul de Pinet 2025

Picpoul de Pinet produces a clean, full-flavoured Languedoc white, lovely on its own or with olives and ideal with oysters, which is no coincidence since its spiritual home is by the sea, behind the oyster beds of the Bassin de Thau. It is refreshing, crisp and light-bodied.
