Red Wine from New Zealand - Hawkes Bay
The second wine in this offer from the immensely talented Warren Gibson, Homage is one of New Zealand’s most celebrated reds and the jewel in the crown of this iconic Hawkes Bay estate. a beautifully expressive wine, offering aromas of black cherry, violet, and cracked pepper, with hints of smoked meat and spice and a lovely mellow note showing classy notes of maturity. Medium-bodied and finely structured, with a delicate, light mid-palate with a core of ripe dark fruit wrapped in silky tannins. Elegant yet powerful, Homage captures the finesse of the vintage and the pedigree of its Gimblett Gravels terroir. A compelling contrast to La Collina, this is a benchmark syrah with serious ageing potential. The 2018 vintage in Hawke’s Bay saw a warm, dry start and record-breaking heat in January, followed by high humidity; conditions that required precise vineyard work to preserve fruit quality. Thankfully, settled weather in early April allowed later-ripening reds like syrah to be harvested in excellent condition. Drink from 2025 to 230. 13%
