The Burgundy region in France is home to some of the world's finest wines. Reds are made using the pinot noir grape, and are usually light in colour with good acidity and pleasing perfumed aromas. These sensual red wines can take a while to get to know but are well worth it. White Burgundy is easier to get to grips with: the vast majority is made with the chardonnay grape, which is a bit of a chameleon and gets its character from where it is grown and how it is made.
