A truly sensational Ausone this year, shimmering in the glass and bursting with perfume and spice. Aromas of violets, crushed slate and spice-laden cherries are complemented by the faintest herbal note, enhancing the richness of the fruit. On the palate, cabernet franc comes to the fore, bringing plentiful powdery tannins alongside the voluptuous sweetness of merlot, all carried through to a fine, precise and focused finish. Everything is in place for Ausone this year with a mid-palate that is already well formed and generous.
