We have worked with Ridge for many years, but Ponzo is a wine we have never before been able to get our hands on. So I was particularly excited when a parcel of the 2022 vintage of this superb old-vine zinfandel became available to us.

Ponzo sits in the cooler Russian River Valley, where morning fog slows ripening, and includes a wonderful old block of zinfandel planted in 1952. In 2022, Ridge picked just ahead of the intense September heat, helping to preserve the freshness that really defines this wine.
This is a slightly lighter-footed expression of Ridge zinfandel, but still with plenty of character and the ability to age. The wine has raspberry and red cherry fruit, a little clove spice and tart cranberry freshness, with supple tannins and nothing feeling heavy or overworked.
Our long relationship with Ridge has given us access to some special wines over the years, and it is always exciting to be able to add something completely new to the list.
