Clos Fourtet is located in the very heart of Saint-Emilion, with the grand vin sourced from the walled clos that surrounds the property. Owned by the Cuvelier family, who also own Château Poujeaux in Moulis, this is a notably richer and more intense expression of a wine traditionally known for its taut, mineral character. While there is still a distinct stony minerality derived from the limestone soils, the wine is immediately seductive, layered with sweet cherry and plush plum fruit. The tannins are enveloping, balanced by a touch of appealing bitterness, leading into a long finish that is both sweetly fruited and resolutely bone dry. This wine comes in a wooden case.
